Yesterday a sugar cone topped with a big scoop of this was in order...
You know how people harp on about how you need to be in control of your cravings all the time?
Well that's a bunch of bull, because some good ol' creamy frozen deliciousness what what I needed to hit 100 kg on my leg press today.
Lesson learnt: Listen to your body. If sugar is what it needs sugar should be what it gets. No amount of stevia or agave or fruit is gonna satiate.
You see last morning I woke up with a slight feeling of anxiety, which I thought would pass after I got some breakfast in my belly...
Overnight oats made with greek yogurt and coconut milk
After which I rushed off and got on the train to get to school. I was still feeling slight jitters, so I thought reading might take my mind off things.
No such luck. 4 stations later I was feeling even worse, anxiousness crept all over and it was just a horrible feeling I couldn't shake off. I decided to turn back and go home.
At home I tried napping...
(But couldn't fall asleep)
Relaxing...

The xx on vinyl
Lunch...

Chicken and salsa, maple-glazed veggies, olives and blueberry goats cheese with bulgur
Exercising...
(But lasted only 5 minutes before calling it quits)
But nothing worked. The feeling just grew on, and there was nothing I could do about it... Till my mom suspected it to be a drop of blood-sugar and suggested some ice cream.
And that did the trick. The anxiety just vanished. Poof. Like that!
Of course it had to creep back again 2 hours later, and a huge craving for cookie dough hit.

Cookie dough ball and mango, with a side of news
Kept me going for a while before I had to attack a poor pineapple... which kept me fine till dinner.
That was it though, because my appetite died after dinner. I couldn't even fathom eating my bedtime snack, and I crashed at 9.30 pm, which is ridiculously early even for me.
The whole thing was rather annoying, but things are looking pretty normal around these parts today. I went to the gym for a back/leg workout and nailed it (going to be feeling those lunges and squats tomorrow), so I guess it shows that I just needed some extra fuel to get going.
And now it's pouring outside and I'm thinking some more XX on vinyl and a nap is in order... Have a lovely weekend!

Love that you didn't push your cravings aside, but yet you indulged & enjoyed every bite :)
ReplyDeleteHave an amazing weekend sweetheart.
mm mango is so refreshing sometimes, have a great saturday!
ReplyDeleteSo, so true. Sometimes you just gotta eat that full fat, full sugar, 100% real ice cream and enjoy every last bite. Glad you found the source of those anxious feelings!
ReplyDeleteI love this because I am all for giving your body what it wants as well, ESPECIALLY when it's ice cream! :) Now I think I will pretend I need some sugar and go have a bowl of it as well.
ReplyDeleteYesss for honoring your cravings, Shreya! Ironically enough some of my best workouts are the ones which take place after eating not-so-healthy foods. What flavor Ben 'n' Jerry's did you opt for?
ReplyDeleteMy great runs are almost always the morning after a pizza night!
DeleteAnd Chunky Monkey - banana, walnuts, chocolate... It's one of the best flavour combinations!
Insatiable appetite is my second name lately. I'm glad you catered to your needs and were satisfied at the end of the day. And I fully agree on ice cream being fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWhich book are/were you reading?
I'm almost done with The Memory Keeper's Daughter!
Deletesometimes you just have to listen to your body. I have tried to find healthier alternatives to see if it helped- but no when your body wants fries and shake from jack in the box- its jack in the box!
